How to store your real-hair wig properly?

Each wig is made of the contributions of so many people’s hair donation to start the journey that brings joy and confidence to cancer patients during chemotherapy. The beauty of the wig will be more durable when the wig is taken care of with proper preservation. Take a look at how to preserve the hair properly!

Step 1: Turn the wig inside out so that the lace is outside.

Step 2: Fill your hand with shampoo for the wig .

Step 3: Gently rinse the wig with cold water from the root to the ends.

Note: Do not use cold water to rinse and do not completely submerge the wig in water as the wig might be tangled and lose its style.

Step 4: Thoroughly apply the wig shampoo in the hair. Rinse off all the shampoo using cold water.

Step 5: Apply hair conditioner to the hair to make it glossier and less tangle-prone. After that, spend a few minutes rinsing out the conditioner with cold water.

Step 6: Gently squeeze out excess water from your wig vertically. Remember that you should never wring your wig.

Step 7: Blot excess water with a soft towel. Again, absolutely do not wring it or comb it when it’s soaking wet, and also do not dry it using a hairdryer.

Step 8: Finally, let your wig dry naturally on a wig stand.

(WIG LIBRARY FROM HUMAN HAIR)

  1. Who are we?

Breast Cancer Network Vietnam (BCNV) was established on 03/03/2013. We are a non-profit organization who aims at raising the awareness of public about breast cancer to encourage early detection of breast cancer and improve the quality of life for women diagnosed with this disease.

  1. “Wig library by real hair” project

“Wig Library” project lends human hair wigs to breast cancer patients under chemotherapy to help them regain confidence in their appearance. To eliminate the drawbacks of wigs from synthetic fiber, BCNV have called for human hair donations from the public to provide human hair wigs which are far superior compared to the synthetic ones:

Human hair, not irritative to skin.

Easy to store and take care of (same as real hair)

Virtually lasts forever (if not damaged and is taken good care)

        Reusable for multiple people.

On average, we need at least 4 donors for each human hair wig with high implementation costs. Together with your donation and support, BCNV believes that we can reclaim and boost the confidence of breast cancer patients during treatments and empower them to conquer their fears.
